Out and About at the Kilkenny Farmers Market

On Thursday morning we awoke to a beautiful, clear, crisp November day.  The sun was shining in the bright blue sky and we emerged from the house bleary eyed and blinking at the golden orb in sky ( it had been a while since we had seen it we almost forgotten what it looked like!!)  Dave and I decided to enjoy the day that was in it so headed into town to grab a coffee and go for a morning walk in the park before stopping by the Kilkenny Farmers Market at Kilkenny Castle parade to pick up supplies for the week.   The Farmers Market is open every Thursday morning 9.30-2.30pm, Stall holders put out their wares come hail or shine.  Hundreds of local families and farmers supply produce to the weekly market.   You can find organic meats, cheeses, chocolates, breads, cakes, pies and preserves. Situated right in the centre of the city under the shadows of the Castle this is how I imagine the markets would have been set up hundreds of years ago.  If you are ever in Kilkenny on a Thursday, make sure you check out the market and support local suppliers!  :-)
