Remember before how I was very keen to revolutionise the garden from a parking lot concrete slap into something I would like to sit in?, well phase one of this massive undertaking includes getting some potted plants for the “seating area”, or basically, the area that has poured concrete (awful), in my vain attempt to turn a sows ear into a silk purse.
The storm lantern was picked up at AVOCA by Dave, and the little pink and purple potted plants to the front of the lantern were picked up at ikea, (I won’t lie, those particular plants are fake, but hey, they do add instant colour, I can assure you the rest are very real, potting compost included) and the vintage wooden crate was picked up at a local garden centre , we don’t quite know what to do with it yet, but I really like the battered old wood and lettering, can it be used as a pot for plants? hmmmmm…

It would look so cool with apples but that would be an expensive option to keep up with!! So I’d say go with some nice flowers…….sure why not. I love everything you bought. Absolutely love the vintage/battered wood look too. Fair play to ya Dee, looks like it’s coming on really well
Have a lovely weekend chicken x
Love what you have done so far, you will soon have a wonderful back garden for dining and relaxing in!
Thank you so much Esther! long old road, but sure we will get there…(fingers crossed!)
Old wooden crate can be used to start your herb garden perhaps??
Herb garden!! exactly that is exactly what I would like to do with the crate! that sounds great!
Can you paint the concrete? Herbs in the crate sounds lovely too.
I am hoping to paint the walls ( breeze blocks!!) and then putting down terracotta tiles, but I never even considered painting the concrete…that could totally work and be a fraction of the price! Thanks Felicity!
Lovely & colourful! those plants are on my shopping list for IKEA too! they are fantastic and at least ya don’t have to worry about them dying (like so many of my plants do!) LOOOOOVE vintage crates too
I would definitely fill it with flowers…how about filling it with gorgeous fluffy bluey-purple hydrangeas? be sooo pretty
Thanks so much! I am thinking of getting more crates actually, they look pretty battered but that just adds to their charm! Have filled one with herbs, which I might add I actually Used last night when cooking! the novelty of setting outside to “pick” herbs is brilliant! Hydrangeas? cant think of a more beautiful flower, I LOVE them!!!
